ClassNK Sets New Records For Newbuildings And Class Transfers
(1st February 2013)

The classification society, ClassNK has announced its official registration figures for 2012, revealing that the Tokyo based society registered nearly 1000 vessels totaling more than 25m gross tons in 2012. The announcement was made on 28 January 2013 following the January meeting of the ClassNK Classification Committee, which reviews and certifies all registrations and certifications made to the ClassNK register.

The Centres to Seafarers provide a warm welcome to all seafarers visiting our ports and to seafarers and their dependants who are resident in the City.

Each Centre is home to the three port chaplains representing the Apostleship of the Sea, The Sailors' Society and The Mission to Seafarers. Free transport is provided from the docks complex to and from the Centres.

• April 24th 2013, Battle of the Atlantic Talk
This is the 70th Anniversary year of the Battle of the Atlantic, Rear Admiral John Lang will be presenting his talk ‘The battle of the Atlantic’ at the Southampton Seafarers Centre starting at 19h00.

Johns talk traces the course of the conflict, looks at it from the two sides and describes how very close we came to being defeated by a very skilled and determined enemy.
